I leave tomorrow for Mexico. In about 20 hours, to be exact.

It is where I’ve established my home base for the past three years. I have friends there, a community. I have my routines, my favorite cafes, my yoga classes.

I’m excited to go back to the food, my cute little apartment, my friends. I want to get back to my life there.

But I’ve been away for the past 5 months.

Things there have changed — life has continued in my absence.

No doubt, things will be different.

No doubt, I’m imagining life in Xalapa with rose-tinted glasses.

No doubt, I will feel isolated and lost, frustrated and annoyed, uncertain and confused as I go back home and readjust to life there again.

But still, que emocion!
