It sounds like an outlandish claim that doing new things will help you live longer, but… it’s actually not.

I know, I know — commonly accepted knowledge about how to live longer usually includes things like drinking more water, eating healthy foods, moving your body more often, not engaging in “vices” like cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs, and so on.

So how does doing new things help you to live longer? And what kind of “new things” are we talking about, anyways?

Well, I will admit that doing something new regularly perhaps won’t have much of an impact in terms of actually extending your lifespan or the amount of time you spend on this planet. But, from a different perspective, doing new things can help you feel like you’re living longer.

And that’s what really matters, right?
